With its relaxed style and approachable pricing, El Fogon in Sunnyside is especially appealing for a casual lunch or dinner with family and friends.
The menu focuses on traditional Mexican dishes such as tacos, sopes, birria, carne asada, menudo, and other meat-based specialties. Among the most frequently praised choices are the Tacos de Carne Asada. These tacos feature savory grilled beef with the satisfying char and seasoned flavor that make carne asada such a dependable favorite. Their simple preparation allows the meat to remain the centerpiece, making them a good introduction to the kitchen.
Birria de Chivo is another standout dish and one of the items most closely associated with El Fogon. The goat birria delivers the deep, slow-cooked character expected from this classic preparation, with tender meat and a rich, warming flavor. One customer went as far as calling it “La birria más rica de Washington,” reflecting the strong enthusiasm surrounding the dish. Sopes are also regularly mentioned among customer favorites, combining a thick corn base with savory toppings for a meal that is both substantial and texturally satisfying.
Pricing is one of the restaurant’s practical strengths. Typical spending is reported at around $10–$20 per person, placing El Fogon among the more accessible restaurants in Sunnyside for a filling Mexican meal. Reviews often highlight both food quality and value, with one recent diner praising the “Great Atmosphere, Great Service, & Most Importantly GOOD FOOD.” Another customer described the food as fresh, authentic, and memorable while also complimenting the friendly staff.
The setting is relaxed rather than formal, making the restaurant suitable for everyday meals. The dining room has a quiet, uncomplicated atmosphere where the food receives most of the attention. Available amenities reported for the restaurant include takeaway service, outdoor seating, wheelchair accessibility, credit-card payment, and television. The best tacos available in Sunnyside. Home made corn tortillas that are soft and not too small like street tacos. You must know it is cash only and very small dining area. But if you want the best tacos around this area you must try these!
Great Atmosphere , Great Service , & Most Importantly GOOD FOOD‼ Try it out, you won’t regret it, & THANK ME LATER‼
Great Customer Service & Attention , & MOSTLY THE GREAT TASTING FOOD!!!
The real deal. A hole-in-the-wall tint place that is memorable, clean, just outstanding. If your taste runs to chain restaurants, you don’t belong here. For people who prefer an authentic, small restaurant with genuine, warm service and fresh, tasty food.
El Fogon should be considered a national treasure. The food they offer is always fresh, tasty, and authentic. I try to stop by every chance I get because not only do they have great food but the people here are friendly, and offer great service to anyone. Truly a memorable dinning experience.
A great place to eat, a bit small but the food and the service definitely make up for it!! Always a favorite go to place.
