It's always good to stumble on the small local humble and unassuming places that serve up just plain delicious food. I wanted to try the national dish Poutine, and here they have a range of options from plain chips cheese and gravy to the Supreme with chicken, mushrooms bacon and onions. My husband had beef and jalapeños. Generous and delicious!
Best poutine west of the Québec province. As any good poutine should have, there was gravy all the way to the bottom, lots of very squeaky cheese curds and delicious homemade fries. -if there is one negative thing I could say, I think the oil was a bit old. Was still very good and big portion
This is a poutinery. It was the best poutine I've ever had. I had a poutine called Glavaude. Poutine with chicken and peas. I know that doesn't sound good, but it was yummy!! I also had a steamie, which in Quebec is a staple. A steamed hot dog with mustard, onion, relish, coleslaw. Fantastic!!! The gravy was soooo good, not too salty and I think they used Yukon gold potatoes. The fries didn't have a greasy taste and were fresh, not frozen. I would like to add to this today(8/26/25). My friends and I went there today and I had an unfortunate mishap. As I was bringing the poutine to my table(very very hot), the whole container literally collapsed on to the floor. It was everywhere. One of the young men helped me clean it up. He asked the two guys cooking to remake me another one. They didn't have to do that at all but it was truly appreciated. Thank you.
This is the best place to get poutine in Victoria. I always bring my international friends that want to try poutine here because they also have spruce beer, and my friends always seem to love it! The staff are nice and the portions are a good size (the ones in my photos are smalls and she shared with 4 people easily). My personal favourite is the breakfast poutine. A bunch the navy guys come here for their lunch breaks, so keep in mind the lunch time rush can get kinda crazy.
The true Canadian experience! The food: excellent! Better Poutine than in Montreal and Montreal Poutine is exceptionally good. The aesthetics are rough, but the good kind of rough. It's part of the experience. The service smiley and friendly. If you want to impress a tourist bring them here.
Moved back to the Island and this is the 1st place I went to for dinner. Portions are a little smaller but not disappointed at all. Will be here often.
