We were so heartbroken that we only found this gorgeous bar and restaurant on our last night. The food looked incredible and I was gutted I’d already eaten. We did get some nachos and guacamole and it was really good, but I had food envy every time another table got something delivered. We saw a fabulous band and the atmosphere was so friendly and lively. Come for a gig if you can. The beer is some of the best I found in Mexico. They have a menu with a number of really good local craft beers and I honestly could have sat here happily for a few hours longer. It’s a bit out of the centre of Oaxaca, but well worth making your way too.

I like how authentic and communal this place feels like. The band is local and full of energy. The bitter sweet chocolate cake is super authentic. It is a wonderful outing! Do check out the clothing store and book store attached; the owner is lovely too

The food was gorgeous. I got the tacos dorados and they were delightful. The staff were lovely and then an incredible band showed up and played amazing music. Magical. Also the orgasmo pie is. Freaking. Amazing. So so rich.

This place truly does amazing food! They have great Vegan and Veggie options as well as some meat choice too. It's a great mix of flavours without being over spicy. Each meal comes with bowl of bread and bits to dip, that sauce is warm but a tasty treat. The staff are very lovely there. Top tip to wear mosquito repellent if they are fond of you. It's got beautiful plants around but they attract the mosquitoes.

We went on a Friday and there was music and a dancer. The food was delicious- we had curry and guacamole. It’s vegetarian. The beers were cold!

Great location with a fantastic ambiance, with beautifully decorated patio seating area covered by colorful bougainvillea’s. Within you’ll find children and adults bookstore, holistic store. Food is excellent, the dorado hibiscus tacos are deliciously good, and the salmon served on bed of mashed sweet potato is perfectly made combination.

We love La Jicara! Interesting and fun shows most nights, good food (the salad with beets and radishes, the milanesa napolitano and the jamaica vegetarian tacos are favorites) and reasonably priced beer and mezcal. Check their instagram feed for shows and be sure to WhatsApp them for a table. It’s usually packed.

We've been 4 times in the last 2 months. The staff is fantastic. The events are always excellent. And the food has been consistently good. There are still items on the menu I'd like to try...we hope to make it back next year. Many of their events are popular and require reservations.
