Made reservations for dinner here weeks in advance to secure our desire time a slot. We went early June so the outdoor dining area was available. I would suggest a table outdoors as it is way more comfortable (if it’s warm outside , but no patio warmers) and quieter so easier to talk. The service is very attentive as all the servers and runners are very knowledgeable about each dish. We got the lobster starter, plogue a Champlain foie gras, and stuffed pigs foot. Dessert was a crème caramel. Each dish was delicious. It’s foie gras and maple syrup in a lot of the dishes, very rich food!

I visited Au Pied de Cochon earlier this month while traveling in Montreal, and I still find myself thinking about what an incredible dinner it was. Even we had some issues, without a doubt we would come back. It was a very special evening with a multi course tasting menu, as they had a guest chef in residence. The whole experience felt unique and thoughtfully curated, something you truly cannot easily find elsewhere. The night started in an unexpected way. A perfumer came to our table and presented a warm tin, and inside there was a towel infused with an absolutely beautiful fragrance. I never thought I would be praising a scented towel as part of a dining experience, but it was unforgettable and something we still talk about today The dishes themselves were delicious and very generous. It felt like the portions had not been perfectly calibrated for this special menu, and there was a lot of food. Our favorite dishes were definitely the pasta courses. I do not have photos of everything, but I am sharing the ones I could find on my phone. Service had a few hiccups throughout the evening. At times, it felt like we were forgotten. Guests who arrived after us were served much earlier, and at one point we waited around 30 minutes with nothing arriving at the table. We also ordered cocktails that were recommended by our server, but they never came. However, once we brought this up, the team handled it very well. They apologized, brought the missing drinks and offered them on the house. The staff was genuinely attentive in resolving the situation, which we really appreciated. Even though the experience was not perfect, the way they handled the issues made a big difference. I highly recommend it for a special occasion. It is definitely on the pricier side, but it offers something truly unique. And if they ever repeat this kind of guest chef experience, do not miss it. It is also important to make a reservation in advance

I came to Montreal for a little trip and made sure to stop by Au Pied de Cochon, a spot I had heard so much about. The service stood out—warm, attentive, and genuinely sweet without feeling overbearing. It really set the tone for the entire meal. The food overall was very good, rich, and indulgent as expected. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and full of bold flavors. The highlight for me was definitely the foie gras nigiri. Some dishes leaned on the heavier side, but that’s part of the experience here. It’s not the kind of place you go for light eating. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience that matched the restaurant’s reputation. Between the comforting atmosphere, kind service, and standout dishes.

Excellent service from our server. Intimate decor and local music fit the restaurant well but I gotta say hearing a Kylie Minogue song made it a great. The lobster app was delicious and gorgeously presented. The Pied du Cochon was very rich, not much for presentation and a lot of well-flavoured fat. The duck in a can was pretty good. It was a lot of food overall, definitely important to share. Desserts were basic but good between the pouring chômeur and the creme caramel. Cocktails were pretty mediocre, despite being creative.

Definitely need reservations to enter. The place was packed the whole time we were there. I was anticipating an incredible meal from all the great reviews. Making a reservation on their site was easy. Yet, we were confused as to why a couple with a later reservation (who arrived early) was seated before us even though we were on time and there before them. But overall, the staff was friendly, so we chalked it up to a misunderstanding. The menu is limited, but I appreciate the focus. They know what they do well and aren't afraid of perfecting it. We ordered the fraisier cocktail (vodka with aperol and strawberry sorbet on top) and the Mexican mojito (got a kick in the bottom of your throat spicy). Both really good and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. I was very giddy by the time they brought the foie gras nigiri. This is why I wanted to eat here and am so glad they keep it on the menu! One order $29 comes with 4 spoon servings, by the way. Add the soy ginger sauce like they suggest because it cuts the fattiness iust right. Perfection. Oh là là! Decadent, smooth and buttery. Why don't more places serve foie gras like this? Genius! We also ordered the pork chop, paparadelle pork ragù and a side of the salt and maple sugar fries. All were good, but the foie gras still had them beat. The fries had nice flavor, but we were really disappointed because it seemed like we got the tail end of the fry basket. The bottom and middle of our paper cone contained all the broken bits. I felt a bit deceived. We got the pudding chomeur that people said was a classic staple. It was basically cake batter swimming in maple sugar syrup. It was sickly sweet. If sweet sweet desserts is your preference, get the pudding. I'm glad we got to try the pudding, but I regretted not ordering a second order of the foie gras instead to end the night. I would come back for the cocktails and the foie gras and maybe the foie gras poutine.

I have frequented this establishment on numerous occasions throughout the years, and it has consistently met my, and on occasions exceeded my expectations. While the wine selection is extensive, I highly recommend sampling their in-house ciders or cocktails. For first-time visitors, the duck in a can is an excellent choice. It is a substantial and flavorful dish that will leave you feeling satisfied. Their foie gras dishes are all exquisite, but my personal favorites are the nigiri and the poutine, which I consider to be the finest in the city. The atmosphere is consistently vibrant and bustling. The staff members are all courteous, polite, and provide exceptional service. Although the evening began a bit slowly, it was understandable given how crowded the restaurant was. I often forget that the restrooms are situated in a somewhat inconvenient location, behind the bar. Additionally, they could benefit from more frequent attention throughout the shift to maintain their cleanliness. I dont believe anyone can be disappointed making a reservation here. Im excited to book my next visit.

This was, without a doubt, our favorite restaurant in Montreal. From the moment we arrived, we loved the atmosphere—warm, welcoming, and with a cozy, family-like feel that immediately made us feel at home. The service was exceptional. Everyone on the staff was attentive and friendly throughout the entire experience, but we would especially like to thank Morgan, who took incredible care of us. We decided to try something different and asked her to choose everything for us, from the appetizer all the way to dessert, without telling us what dishes would be coming to the table. It made the experience even more special and exciting. Every dish that arrived was a surprise. Not only was the presentation impeccable, but the flavors were outstanding. Honestly, it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time. A huge thank you to Morgan and the entire team for making our evening so memorable. We will definitely be back whenever we return to Montreal.
