Cozy local food restaurant. We had corn hummus, pork shank with ant sauce, and mole rosa. Everything was very delicious. I was surprised with corn hummus, it was very creamy and flavorful. Mole rosa is recommended just to try different type of mole (includes beats, on a sweater side). The ambience and atmosphere were lovely. The service was impeccable. Christobal was attentive and helpful.
My favorite place in Huayapam for the ambience, excellent menu, artistic presentation, and value. Excellent, beautifully constructed drinks and very friendly bar service with a great Mezcal selection. Be sure to seriously consider the specials and dessert options!
This restaurant is such a wonderful balance of authentic, traditional food with creative flair…not to mention excellent service and a perfect, fragrantly garnished agua fresca with basil! I was too full to order dessert so I will have to go back!
When I walked in here and smelted fresh copal being burned—I was immediately transformed into the natural space that is Luz de Luna. Our server, Felipe, was well informed on every one of the dishes and even gave incredible recommendations. The Ceviche de Casa was some of the best ceviche I have ever tasted. Be careful as their Salsa Macha has quite the kick, though all the flavors married well together. Pavel behind the bar is great at telling you about the ingredients of every cocktail. Every choice is intentional and it shows across the board for this restaurant. Gracias por todo! I will absolutely be back the next time I find myself in Oaxaca.
Luz de Luna is a gem. If Oaxacan food is already delicious, chef Mica has elevated it to the moon. Every ingredient in each dish is clearly well thought out, not only for presentation, but for how each flavor enhances the others. A short distance from Oaxaca, it’s definitely worth it (in San Andres de Huayapam-15 minute drive from the center of Oaxaca). We ordered the pochocuiles taco, the house ceviche, the chicken in chef Mica’s estofado de rosita sauce with a rice infused with a fragrant herb (exquisite), and a beautifully decorated melon tart with varying accompaniments. Thank you to our server and Chef Mica for such a wonderful and memorable meal.
The food here is like art. From the delicate flavors to the presentation. A symphony of Oaxaca in an inventive and unique way. The service is fantastic. I highly recommend dining at this special restaurant in Huayapam.
Amazing meal of traditional and inspired chef's creations! Try some of the more interesting combinations and different looking items on the menu, you won't regret it. Our server, Cristobal, was awesome and sweet to us and our dog!
