Best fish and shrimp tacos I’ve ever tasted. And I don’t generally even like seafood. Way better than the Michelin guide place in town.

Tacos Castillo is a classic street food stand with a straightforward setup — it can get busy, but the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a no-frills taco stand. The staff is friendly, and the customer service aligns well with the casual, fast-paced vibe of the place. We tried the tacos de camarón (shrimp) and pescado (fish). Compared to Tacos Fénix, the flavors and quality are nearly identical, with the main difference being the selection of salsas. The shrimp tacos were especially notable — the shrimp had a nice, bouncy texture, which speaks to its freshness even after cooking. Seating is minimal, just benches without actual tables unless you’re seated close to the fryer. It’s not the most comfortable, but it’s part of the experience. If Tacos Fénix has a long line, Tacos Castillo is a fantastic alternative since they’re so similar in taste and quality. Overall, I’d definitely go back for another quick taco fix!

These tacos are famous. Like seriously featured in all YouTube videos about Ensenada, commented about, super hyped. I liked the efficient service, the clean clear containers, handing money through a plastic bag, and very generous servings of salsa, shredded lettuce, cucumber and radishes, and the sauces I would never be brave enough to try really looked delicious. The two "cremas" were mayonnaise and chipotle aioli. And, as for the fish, it was crispy, they have a very efficient technique for drying it at the border of the pan, and it was tasty. Was it tastier than El Johnny in Punta Banda? That would be a resounding "no". These folks are better organized and handled the long line very elegantly, though. Still a great experience!! I concur with the recommendations. Special mention to the staff.

You have to be careful when choosing where to eat street tacos in Ensenada (and all of Mexico, obviously), but Tacos Castillo has never let us down or made us sick. This place absolutely lives up to the hype, and it's a great choice if you're looking to support a small family business and get some fresh and yummy fish tacos. The fish and shrimp tacos are the kind you think about after you've left Ensenada. They're always perfectly battered, crispy without being too greasy, and piled into warm corn tortillas that hold everything together. I highly recommend the traditional fish tacos, which are made with a delicate whitefish that the region is known for. The seafood tastes fresh, the toppings are simple and traditional (with pico de gallo and shredded cabbage), and once you hit it with their creamy green and spicy salsas and a generous squeeze of lime, it's the perfect taste of coastal Mexico. And don't forget to add that cold bottle of Mexican Coke (there's nothing as refreshing on a hot Ensenada afternoon). This is a little taco truck / stand, so be prepared to get in a long line with local workers. There's a very small picnic table for eating, but most folks grab and go. The hygeine practices seem adequate by Mexican standards, but you may want to bring your own hand sanitizer to tidy up before eating. They fry up your seafood to order, and it's so fun to watch! Since this is a very local spot that caters to folks who live and work in town, this isn't located in the main tourist drag. Be prepared to walk to get there but it's worth every step. No frills, no overthinking it, just really good tacos done right. This is the kind of spot where you eat standing up, immediately want another round, and start wondering how soon you can come back. It's cheap (bring pesos for the best deal) and they don't speak English, so break out that high school Spanish when ordering. This is as authentic as it gets.
