Markie's is my new favourite smoked meat place in Ottawa. Since I discovered it 2 years ago, I make sure to go here on every trip to Ottawa, and they never disappoint. The staff are friendly and the food is great. Smoked meat sandwiches are exactly the right amount of fatty and full of flavour.
A little on the more expensive side but worth it in my opinion the sandwiches are small but reaaaaalllly thick so it's a good portion. Their fries are always really good the poutine gravy they use is solid aswell so it's a good option to. Was quick and pleasant ordering and waiting. There and people were chattering all over but not in a loud or obnoxious way just alive and that's always pretty nice. Would go again.
The service was efficient and the staff were very friendly. They have a wall with pictures of some notable people who have eaten there which is nice. We got Smoked Meat Sandwiches, which were delicious with generous portions. The quality of the meat was good, and the fries were pretty good as well. There are a few menu items that I'd like to go back for next time - one of them is a Smoked Meat Springroll, that sounds interesting I can't comment on the quality though because I did not eat it.

This spot is so peak! Everything was fresh and super tasty. One of the only places with good coleslaw. Definitely recommend . Ruben was amazing. Bacon poutine could use a bit more bacon but other that it was a very solid meal. 10/10
Markie’s Montreal Smoked Meat is an absolutely awesome spot that's big on flavor. While the place itself is small, the sandwiches are stacked high and totally worth it. I highly recommend sticking with the basics here and letting the delicious, high-quality meat shine. The bread is also excellent, and for those with dietary needs, it's great to know they have gluten-free options available. If you're a true fan, you can even buy a whole slab of their smoked meat to take home, which is a fantastic option. Beyond the food, the staff are really nice, and there's plenty of parking in the area, making it an easy and enjoyable visit. We would definitely recommend Markie's to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Montreal smoked meat experience.
Wow that was a good sandwich! I've been to Schwartz's in Montreal and this place is better. I had the Reuben sandwich platter. Comes with fries, cole slaw and a slice of pickle. Sandwich is very large and the portion of fries was also very large. Cole slaw is great because there's less vinegar in it - this is my preference. Pickle was nice and crisp, with a strong tangy flavour. The fries are very very good, almost too good for a sandwich place - I plan on trying their poutine in the future.
