We really enjoyed our visit. The food was delicious and everything was very tasty. Thank you to the team for a great experience. The only suggestions I would make are regarding comfort and privacy. It would be nice to have hooks for coats, especially in the private tatami room. Since rooms are usually reserved for a more private dining experience, it would also be appreciated if the waiter entered less frequently.Additionally, having a call button in the booths to request service would be a great improvement and would help avoid unnecessary interruptions. Overall, the food was excellent and we had a lovely time.

If you are looking for a nice, quiet spot for a Thursday night dinner, Mikado is an excellent choice. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, making it perfect for a relaxed meal. What stands out most is that it’s not just a sushi place. While the sushi is great, the menu selection truly has something for everyone, including a variety of cooked dishes that cater to all tastes. The service was exceptional. The staff was attentive throughout the evening, and we were struck by how polite everyone was—several staff members took the time to personally thank us as we left. I would highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a quality dining experience with top-tier service.

I had an absolutely fantastic lunch at Mikado Japanese Cuisine in South Edmonton Commons recently, and I can’t recommend it enough! This place has been a staple for great Japanese food in Edmonton for decades, and my visit to the South location lived up to every bit of the reputation.6 I ordered the beef bento box, and it was outstanding. The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, perfectly grilled with a delicious teriyaki-style glaze that wasn’t overly sweet. It came with a generous portion alongside fresh sushi rolls, crisp tempura, a well-seasoned salad, rice, and miso soup — everything was balanced, fresh, and satisfying. The portions are substantial without being overwhelming, and the quality of the ingredients really shines through. I left completely full and happy. The service was warm and attentive, the restaurant was clean and comfortable with a relaxing ambiance, and the whole experience felt like a treat. Whether you’re craving sushi, robata, or a classic bento like I did, Mikado delivers consistently excellent Japanese cuisine. If you’re in South Edmonton, do yourself a favor and stop by — it’s worth every star. I’ll definitely be back soon! Highly recommended.

The food and service were excellent. Cassandra was our server and truly made our lunch special. She checked in on us throughout and even sang happy birthday to my partner when she brought out the dessert I requested. The hospitality was wonderful, and the food was delicious.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The sushi was incredibly fresh, the bento boxes were beautifully presented and packed with flavor, and we loved the wide range of gluten-free options. Great hot sake, ice-cold beer, and an all-around top-tier Japanese dining experience. Five stars all the way.

Really good food! My server was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place that serves bluefin tuna relatively close to where I live. Will definitely come here again!

One of the best japanese restaurant in the city! Went here with my boyfriend around 4:00 and it got busy right before we left after an hour. We ordered the Robata Bento and my favorite California Roll with sesame! The portions are good and all of the meats are very tasty and have their own unique flavor. I loveeeeee the miso soup! Our server was also very nice and makes sure we are comfortable. It just took like 20mins for our food to arrive but it just means that they cook it fresh and we don’t mind waiting. Will definitely come back and try their other bento sets!
