Food was good and some made fresh to order. BBQ pork was delicious, and enjoyed the Char Sui. I just thought price point was high.

Discover Makaha Chop Suey, a casual Chinese restaurant at 84-1170 Farrington Hwy # A4, Waianae, HI 96792, United States. Located on Oahu’s west side, this neighborhood spot focuses on familiar Chinese comfort food served in generous portions. Makaha Chop Suey in Waianae is particularly appealing for diners who value substantial plates, straightforward flavors, and an informal meal rather than an elaborate dining experience. The restaurant can be contacted at +1 808-695-5800 and is currently listed as open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The menu covers an extensive range of Cantonese-style favorites, including fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, beef and broccoli, chicken dishes, pork preparations, seafood, noodle soups, egg foo yung, gau gee, and family-size party pans. This broad selection makes Makaha Chop Suey useful for both individual meals and larger gatherings where sharing several dishes is part of the experience.
Roast Pork is one of the dishes most consistently associated with the restaurant. Customer comments have specifically called it a “go-to” choice, while another diner praised both the roast pork and the unusually generous servings. The meat-centered dish is a strong option for anyone who prefers savory, traditional Chinese flavors and hearty portions.
Another appealing order is Beef Broccoli Chow Mein. It combines tender beef and vegetables with noodles, bringing together savory sauce, crisp vegetable texture, and the filling character of a classic noodle plate. House Special Chow Mein and Beef Chow Fun broaden the noodle selection, while Char Siu Fried Rice provides a satisfying rice-based alternative with the sweet-savory character of Chinese barbecue pork.
For diners interested in something more substantial, Pot Roast Pork, also known as Kau Yuk, represents another traditional choice. Other menu options include Shrimp Canton, Crispy Gau Gee, Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs, Chicken with Oyster Sauce, and Roast Duck Noodle Soup. The range gives repeat visitors plenty to explore beyond the restaurant’s better-known roast pork and fried rice dishes.
Pricing is generally positioned toward the inexpensive end for the area, although larger dishes and party-style portions naturally cost more. Past customer feedback frequently emphasizes serving size, including one review noting that a plate lunch could potentially be shared. Makaha Chop Suey also offers parking and a casual, kid-friendly setting, while current listings describe the restaurant as primarily suited to straightforward dine-in or takeout meals rather than a polished special-occasion experience.
The atmosphere is simple and neighborhood-oriented, putting the attention on familiar food rather than decorative surroundings. That approach fits the restaurant’s identity: comforting Chinese dishes, large portions, and a menu designed to satisfy families and groups.
Among local dining experiences and the best restaurants in Waianae for classic Chinese comfort food, Makaha Chop Suey offers a practical option with plenty of variety. Visit for the roast pork, chow mein, fried rice, or traditional noodle dishes, and enjoy a relaxed taste of Chinese cooking on Oahu’s west side.

We had the privilege of dinning at Makaha Chop Suey today which was absolutely exquisite, the customer service, the experience all top notch. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family for sure. We ordered the duck and chicken chop suey which was absolutely fabulous.
This restaurant has the absolute best roasted pork. It’s pork belly and the skin is crunchy and perfect. The bbq pork is amazing as well. I had their fried rice which is amazing on it own the first time I visited and then I tried their homemade rice noodles this time. Best meal I had in the island. Bring cash. No credit cards!!!
#1 Chinese take out on the west side !!! I love this place. When your here you feel at home, like in your own neighborhood. The main worker at the front is sunny and he treats everyone like their family. The food is awesome and the service is fast and awesome. I'd recommend the roast pork it's the best I've tasted and lots of other people make it a must have when they visit the west side. When your sick get the abalone soup I do !
The Best Roast Pork, Char Siu & Cold Ginger Chicken and many more great items on the menu.
Came here on a whim with my husband... We got the 3 sides with fried rice and it filled both of us up (we are hearty eaters). I loved their fried rice! Not your typical fried rice either. Their char su pork was delicious and I enjoyed their mushroom dish as well. Didn't care for their won tons (little boring to me). Friendly and low prices.
This place absolutely claps cheeks! 1000%! I was struggling to find what I was in the mood for and Haylie hooked me up with her yum yum wontons! The roast duck look funn mad me actin like a quack-addict! I was so pleased with her service I asked for her hand in marriage but was told her precious yum yum wontons weren’t for sale. 11/10 would cum again.
