About Simpson's Restaurant

Discover Simpson's Restaurant, a long-standing Wisconsin supper club at 222 S Main St, Waupaca, WI 54981, United States, where classic steakhouse comfort meets the traditions of small-town dining. Established in 1932, this downtown landmark has built its identity around scratch-made recipes, steaks, seafood, strong cocktails, and a welcoming supper-club atmosphere. For reservations or carryout, the restaurant can be reached at +1 715-258-2330.

The menu is broad enough for casual dinners, celebrations, and family gatherings. Appetizers generally run around $11–$20, sandwiches about $15–$19, while substantial entrées range from roughly $23 to $43 before moving into premium steaks, lobster, and surf-and-turf combinations. Standouts include the Stuffed Haddock, filled with seafood stuffing and served with traditional supper-club sides, and the Rare Ahi Tuna Steak, seared with a 12-pepper blend and paired with avocado, sesame-ginger slaw, wasabi aioli, and chili-lime sauce. The Filet Mignon is another signature choice, available in multiple sizes for diners looking for a classic steakhouse centerpiece.

What gives Simpson's Restaurant an edge among local dining experiences is its distinctly Wisconsin character. Broiled seafood has long been a specialty, particularly haddock, while prime rib and old-fashioned cocktails remain closely tied to the restaurant's supper-club heritage. Even small details reinforce that identity, from house-made soups and warm bread to the celebrated brandy old-fashioned served with marinated cocktail mushrooms.

Customer feedback reflects many of these strengths. One recent Google reviewer described it as a “Wonderful Wisconsin Supper Club! Great Service, Great Menu and perfect presentation,” while another praised the house-made pastrami Reuben, hand-cut fries, garlic spread, and old-fashioneds. Feedback is not universally glowing, however; another diner recently noted that the food was good but the service was only “decent,” suggesting that pacing can occasionally vary during busy periods.

The atmosphere is traditional rather than trendy, with three dining rooms, a large bar, outdoor patio seating, and the cozy feel expected from a historic Wisconsin supper club. For a more intimate dinner, the restaurant is also known for its secluded “Wood Box” table. Families benefit from a kid-friendly menu, while gluten-free choices, free Wi-Fi, parking, wheelchair accessibility, dine-in, carryout, and reservations add practical convenience.

For anyone comparing the best restaurants in Waupaca, Simpson's Restaurant is especially appealing for classic steak and seafood dinners, supper-club traditions, and cocktails with genuine local character. Whether stopping in for haddock, filet mignon, or a Wisconsin old-fashioned, Simpson's Restaurant offers a memorable taste of Waupaca hospitality. Visit and experience this enduring downtown favorite for yourself.

Stopped here on a whim during a road trip. Was greeted immediately by the owner (Danny) with a smile. Food was amazing (I got the Fish on a Bun), great atmosphere, and great service (Julia was our waitress). Definitely will stop back next time we are in the area!

What a fantastic experience!! The wait time was non existent, we had service immediately from the most kind gentleman I've ever had as a server. The decor and atmosphere was absolutely amazing, so comfortable that I could sleep in my chair with the lighting and the music. Wonderful setup, wonderful people here! The food was fantastic, every course we had was divine. We had Andrew as our server if you can request him please do, he's a gem. Thank God for places like this one that keeps the feeling of truly good dining alive. I will visit again! 6/5 bring your entire family

This is an old supper club. Glad it wasn't too busy on a Saturday. They're pretty proud of their ribeye judging by the $68 price tag for a 12oz steak. But it comes with soup and a side. I'd go back. I know they have a great reputation.
