About Korean Bbq & Tofu

Discover Korean Bbq & Tofu, a cozy Korean restaurant at 2570 Old First St, Livermore, CA 94550, United States, serving comforting barbecue favorites, bubbling tofu soups, and traditional dishes in a relaxed, no-frills setting. For diners searching for authentic local dining experiences beyond the usual downtown options, this family-style spot offers plenty of personality. Korean Bbq & Tofu can also be reached at +1 925-454-1244.

The menu focuses on familiar Korean comfort food with prices that remain approachable for the area. Most tofu soups cost around $17.49–$18.49, while Korean barbecue selections generally range from about $19.99 to $30.99, depending on the protein and portion size. Pot stickers, noodles, fried rice, bibimbap, tteokbokki, and traditional soups round out the selection, making Korean Bbq & Tofu in Livermore suitable for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners.

One signature worth considering is the BBQ Short Ribs, or galbi. The Korean-style beef ribs offer the savory-sweet character expected from a classic marinade, with a richer, meatier finish than lighter barbecue choices. BBQ Spicy Pork is another standout, featuring pork grilled in a spicy Korean barbecue sauce that delivers an appealing balance of sweetness, heat, and smoky flavor. For something warming, the Seafood Tofu Soup combines soft tofu, seafood, and vegetables in a hot broth—a particularly comforting choice on cooler evenings.

Customer feedback strengthens the restaurant's reputation. Current business listings show an approximately 4.5-star rating from more than 250 reviews. One diner described it as an “old school Korean homemade spot, no frills, simple menu, but downright good,” while another praised the “delicious, comforting home-cooked style meal.” Spicy pork, bulgogi, tofu soup, and friendly service appear repeatedly among positive comments. Some diners do mention limited seating and slower service during busy periods, so smaller groups and off-peak visits may offer the smoothest experience.

The dining room reflects the same straightforward character as the food. Rather than chasing a polished, modern Korean BBQ aesthetic, Korean Bbq & Tofu keeps things intimate, casual, and focused on the meal. Seating is relatively limited, and wheelchair-accessible dining is available. Online ordering also adds convenience for customers who prefer takeout.

A particularly appealing touch is the assortment of Korean side dishes served alongside meals, with reviewers also highlighting a complimentary pancake as a memorable extra. These small details help turn a simple lunch or dinner into a more complete Korean dining experience.

Among the best restaurants in Livermore for diners specifically craving homestyle Korean flavors, Korean Bbq & Tofu stands out for its focused menu, warming tofu soups, flavorful barbecue, and welcoming neighborhood character. Visit with an appetite for spicy pork, short ribs, or a bubbling tofu soup and discover why this modest Livermore restaurant has earned such loyal local support.

Yukgaejang noodles were sooo good! Looks spicy but not spicy at all (if you are sensitive to spice, you should tell the chef to ease down on the spice) Im usually not happy with many noodle places with tiny portions but here the portions were very satisfying. Kimchi was delicious! (Home made kimchi not store bought). My go to Korean restaurant in the area.

I’ve been coming here for years and I’m mad I never made a review. The Service, the food, the atmosphere and the respect, everything comes into place here and that is why I’ve been returning here after all these years, even after I moved out to the Bay Area. I can go on and on but I will say I will forever support this mom and pop shop because I’ve gotten better food quality and service here than I do in Most Bay Area restaurants.

Good at every bite. Traditional home cooked meals. Taste always consistent. It helps that current owner manned the kitchen himself prior to taking over the business from his relatives. I've been a patron even before samchon took over. This place never disappoints. Tto Bwayo Ajeossi !

Cosy family-style Korean bistro. Taste good and unlike the bold unistyle flavour from many chains. You can actually taste the ingredients. The pancake got a good crunch to it, wish it had more seafood.

This is one of those hidden gems, hole in the wall small mom and pop type restaurant. The food is delicious! Service is friendly and my kids love it there. Im a spicy soup kind of person and Spicy Ramen is so good! Veggie pancake is the best ive had compared to all Korean BBQ places. The BBQ is outstanding!ove this place. I wish it were closer to my home town, but worth the drive.

Just came for the second time to see if I was right about how good it was, or if I was just super hungry when I spotted it randomly between jobs last week. Nope! Just as good as I remembered. I got the beef bulgogi, and even when ordered to-go, you get a little box of appetizers — their veggie pancake, some pickled veggies (no idea what they all were, but I LOVE them), and a little cup of kimchi (it's probably delicious if you like kimchi...sorry). The beef itself is soft, juicy, and cooked perfectly. I might have to become a regular. The man working both times was so kind and even remembered my order! Can't wait to try more of the menu. As for atmosphere — classic hole-in-the-wall that you'd never expect to be amazing, and then it is. Nothing fancy: open room, tables, a TV playing what I can only describe as a K-pop station? Clean, welcoming, and the bathroom is accessible from outside around back, which is a little adventure. Honestly, charming.

I seriously love this place. It’s a small mom and pop restaurant that feels so special the second you walk in. The owners are genuinely some of the sweetest people ever and they always make everyone feel so welcome. The food is absolutely amazing every single time. I’ve been coming here for years and I can confidently say I’ve never had a bad experience. You can really tell they care about what they do. Places like this are hard to find now. Good people, great food, and a warm atmosphere. I’ll keep coming back and recommending this place to everyone I know.
